Hi, I’m Jassmen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Bay Area Therapy Place. For over 15 years, I’ve helped teens, adults, parents and families move through anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, and OCD toward lives that feel calmer, more connected, and more authentic.
As a Bay Area Native, a lifelong performing artist and a second-generation South Asian and Hispanic therapist, I bring a deep appreciation for creativity, cultural identity, and the unique pressures of navigating multiple worlds. My lived experience helps me connect with clients who are balancing family expectations, cultural values, and personal growth. I understand what it’s like to move between different roles and spaces, and I use that insight to create a therapy experience that feels safe, respectful, and empowering.
Jassmen Berube
My background in the performing arts has shaped my ability to tune into emotional nuance and hold space for vulnerability. I understand firsthand the intense demands, high standards, and emotional toll that often come with being a performing artist, from perfectionism and performance anxiety to burnout and identity struggles. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, or simply feeling out of sync with yourself or others, I’m here to help you find your voice and feel more grounded in who you are. I believe that healing happens in connection, and I bring authenticity, warmth, and cultural humility into every session.
I specialize in supporting people who look like they have it all together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted on the inside. Many of my clients are high-achievers, caretakers, or parents who carry an invisible weight of worry, self-doubt, or pressure to “get it right.” Sound familiar?
Let me just say: you don’t have to do it all alone.

Here’s What You Can Expect When We Work Together
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I’m trained in evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While these tools inform our work, I believe therapy is most effective when it centers you as the expert of your own life. I offer a supportive, culturally sensitive, and judgment-free space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace and in your own way.
-
A nonjudgmental space where you can actually breathe and feel safe
-
A therapist who’s both compassionate and honest. I’ll hold space, and I’ll gently challenge you when it matters
-
Practical tools and skills tailored to your unique life, personality, and goals
-
A process grounded in curiosity, courage, and care
If you're ready to shift out of survival mode and start feeling more connected to yourself and the people you love, I’d be honored to support you.
Who I Am, Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of my work as a therapist, I prioritize creativity, connection, and balance in my daily life. I love spending quality time with my family, exploring hiking trails, and finding peace near the beach, nature is one of my favorite ways to recharge. I'm also passionate about the arts, especially performing arts, which have always been a powerful outlet for creative expression and emotional connection. Whether I’m dancing, acting, listening to music, or appreciating live theater, creativity helps me stay grounded and present. These personal passions deeply influence my work as a therapist, reminding me of the importance of authenticity, self-expression, and whole-person wellness.
